An Unexpected Guest

Right around Christmas, we were getting lots of mail with Christmas cards and what not. All of a sudden one day, another letter showed up. This one was from our niece Emma and contained an unexpected guest, Flat Stanley. We haven’t had any visitors for a while so it was a nice treat!

Now for those who don’t know who Flat Stanley is, he is a boy who wanted to see the world. So he decided to make himself flat, and mail himself to different destinations. It was our job to find some clothes for Flat Stanley and show him the town. We started with the iconic picture in the red London phone booth!

Then, we brought Flat Stanley to Buckingham Palace. We didn't get to see the changing of the guards but there were the few guards still marching in the yard of the Palace. In honor of our visit we decided to dress Flat Stanley in the traditional uniform of the Queen’s Guard including the large bearskin hat. I think he looked smashing!

After Buckingham Palace we went to the Parliament and of course, Big Ben. You can't come to London without seeing Big Ben! After our day of site seeing we went home on the Tube, so Flat Stanley could get a ride on the largest underground metro system in the world. We had a great time with our visitor and glad that we had someone to show around before Brad & Gruber and Doug & Jeannie come this spring!
